Xinkui’s background includes a Bachelor Degree of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering in China and a Master Degree of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. His thesis, titling as Experimental and Numerical Studies on Multiple Well Pairs SAGD Performance, focuses on developing a new operation strategy resulting in higher efficiency in terms of maintaining oil production rates with less steam injection.
As a provisional Ph.D. candidate in Petroleum Engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of University of Alberta. Xinkui’s research topic is Evaluation of Geomechanical Dilation and its Effects on SAGD Performance, which looking at developing a SAGD start-up strategy to enhance SAGD operation performance.
Xinkui is a professional engineer and has 25 years’ experience on scientific research and technology development in petroleum industry and scientific community. Before he joined the Alberta Innovates –Technology Futures (previously Alberta Research Council) in 2001, he had been working in the PetroChina Huabei Oilfield Company. His multidiscipline experience includes working with large-scale physical and numerical models on heavy oil & oil sands recovery, technology research &development in the areas of reservoir engineering & production engineering.
