Abeer is Ph.D. candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, University of Alberta. Canada; "Effects of Scale and Stress Anisotropy on Hydro-Thermo-Mechanical Properties of Gas Shale" A research that encounters utilization of; Digital Fabrication, FLAC 3D, SRM, DFN and Continuum/ Discontinuum modeling. 
Mrs. Heikal held "Scientific and Technical Officer" position with Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Provincial Government of British Colombia in Canada from 2008 to 2011.
Abeer worked in the National Water Research Center, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation in Egypt from 2001 to 2007. She helped preparing 15 Geotechnical Engineering reports and held position of "Supervisor Engineer" of the Soil Mechanics Laboratory
Software skills; Mathematica, GEOSLOPE, AutoCAD, Examine 2D, MS Office Suite, Data Taker, ABAQUS, FLAC 3D.
Design Knowledge;
Bore Path in Horizontal Directional Drilling, HDD. According to ASTM F1962.
Cast In Place Pipe, CIPP Liner. According to ASTM F1216-05.
CSA-S6-06 Design of Aluminum Bridges and Footbridges.

Member in; ARMA, ASCE, Canadian Geotechnical Society, CGS, CMG, CSCE, Egyptian Engineers Syndicate, EES, and SPE.

When Abeer is not in GeoREF testing nor in office researching, she is; with family, reading, walking, traveling, or preparing to be licensed as P.Eng. with APEGA.
